About Us

The Provincial Administration – Northern Province is an extension of Central Government (Cabinet Office) at Provincial level.  The mandate of Provincial Administration is to provide administrative secretariat and coordinate effective implementation of national programmes and policies in the Province.

Constitution (Amendment) Act No. 2 of 2016 and the Government Gazette Notice No. 1123 of 2021 states that, “There shall be established for each Province an administrative secretariat, which shall consist of a Provincial Minister, a Provincial Permanent Secretary; and other staff, as prescribed. The Provincial Administration shall have overall responsibility of the Province and perform other functions as prescribed.”

The Provincial Administration envisions A Smart and Value-Centred Civil Service Northern Province.’

Through this vision, Northern Province will ensure that it applies innovative strategies in its provision of services. The province will embrace the use of qualified human resource and technology to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and effective manner.

The mandate and mission statement of provincial administration is to

“effectively and efficiently promote and coordinate sustainable development in the province in order to ensure quality and timely service delivery to the community in a transparent, accountable and equitable manner”.

The institution is an administrative center for the province having overall responsibility of the province in terms of socio-economic development.

To achieve the inclusive desired economic, social, cultural, environmental and infrastructural development which is supportive and enabling to all people of Northern Province for them to have good quality of life.
