GIVE MARKETEERS LOANS, NORTHERN PS TELLS CEEC.

Northern Province Acting Permanent Secretary, Ms. Beauty Undi-Phiri, has urged the Citizen Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) in the province to expedite the disbursement of loans to marketeers conducting business at Chambeshi Market in Kasama District.

Speaking to marketeers at the market today, Ms. Undi-Phiri emphasized President Hakainde Hichilema’s call to ensure that small and medium-sized enterprises benefit from government empowerment programmes.
She noted that political affiliation should not determine who benefits from empowerment initiatives, stressing that every eligible marketeer deserves support.

Ms. Undi-Phiri further revealed that some cooperatives, including Malasha Cooperative, are expected to receive funding, with K300,000 scheduled for disbursement next week.
A total of eight cooperatives in Kasama District have so far received K1,178,556 under the empowerment programme.
Meanwhile, the Acting Permanent Secretary assured marketeers that construction of the first phase of the demolished market shelter will commence soon and be completed within the next three months.

She further announced that modern toilet facilities and a reliable water supply will be provided at the market to improve sanitation and working conditions.
And some marketeers have thanked the government for its swift response in rebuilding the market shelter and addressing their concerns.
