This morning, Northern Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ms. Beauty Undi-Phiri, officially launched the 2025/2026 Farmer Input Support Program (FISP) Redeeming Exercise in Mungwi District.
For the 2025/2026 farming season, a total of 15,000 farmers in Mungwi District are set to benefit from the program.
This initiative is expected to further strengthen the district’s position as one of the leading producers of maize and rice in the country.
In her address, Ms. Undi-Phiri emphasized the Government’s unwavering commitment to the smallholder farming community.
“With over 90 percent of the country’s food supply coming from these hardworking men and women, Government remains resolute in its commitment to supporting them with timely and affordable farming inputs,” she said.
She reaffirmed the New Dawn Government’s belief in the critical role small-scale farmers play in ensuring national food security and driving economic growth.
Acknowledging challenges faced in previous seasons, Ms. Undi-Phiri assured the farmers that the Government has taken decisive steps to improve the distribution system.
She highlighted that Government has engaged closely with agro-dealers to guarantee timely delivery of inputs, even to remote areas such as Kayambi Camp, ensuring no farmer is left behind in this important national exercise.
