Kasama,25th March 2025
Northern Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ms. Beauty Undi Phiri, has urged the National Pensions Scheme Authority (NAPSA) to consider investing in the energy sector within the province.
Ms. Phiri highlighted that the Northern Region is rich in water bodies that could be harnessed for power generation, which could supply both the region and the rest of the country.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary said this when NAPSA Director General Muyangwa Muyangwa paid a courtesy call on her today.
“Our province is abundant in water resources, but what’s lacking are companies that can help us generate renewable energy. This is something we urgently need,” she said.
In addition, Ms. Phiri called on NAPSA to invest in the construction of more housing units within the province.
“We are facing a housing deficit here, and we hope NAPSA can assist us by investing in the construction of more housing units,” she added.
Meanwhile, NAPSA Director General, Mr. Muyangwa Muyangwa, shared that the Authority has plans to increase its investments in the Northern Region.
He noted that NAPSA is exploring various opportunities to support development in the area and is also planning to build an office in Kasama to be closer to its members.
“We are committed to exploring opportunities that will help unlock further development in this region. Additionally, we plan to build an office in Kasama to be more accessible to our members,” Mr. Muyangwa said.
