In a bid to improve service delivery in remote areas, the government has officially handed over two vehicles to the districts of Lupososhi and Lunte in Northern Province.
The vehicles are part of a broader initiative to enhance transportation infrastructure and ensure that government services reach the most underserved areas.
Speaking when he handed over, Northern Province Permanent Secretary, Mr. Bernard Mpundu, emphasized that the vehicles should be utilized strictly for their intended purposes.
He urged district officials to prioritize their use in improving services for the local communities, underscoring that the vehicles were meant to enhance the efficiency and accessibility of government programs in these far-flung regions.
“The vehicles are essential tools for bridging the gap in service delivery, they will help ensure that our services are delivered more effectively, whether it’s for health, education, or other key public services,” said Mr. Mpundu.
The Permanent Secretary also issued a stern warning against the misuse of public resources, highlighting the importance of accountability in the management of government assets.
“Public vehicles are not for personal use. I expect these vehicles to be used responsibly and for the benefit of the people,” Mr. Mpundu stressed.
The handover of the vehicles is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to address transportation challenges faced by many districts, particularly those in remote areas.
Access to reliable transportation has often been a barrier to providing timely services, and the new vehicles are expected to reduce delays and improve overall service delivery.
As the government continues its efforts to improve service delivery, the provision of vehicles is seen as a vital step in addressing the logistical challenges faced by districts in Northern Province and other remote areas across the country.
