Northern Province is poised to record a bumper harvest from the Food Security Pack (FSP) emergency response agricultural program being implemented by the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services.
Over 40,000 households in the province will benefit from the promising yields which have been made possible by the timely intervention amidst the drought situation.
Ministry Permanent Secretary Ms. Angela Kowanyama is elated with the success of the FSP emergency response which she says is a big relief and will enhance both domestic and national food security.
She said this when she inspected both traditional and wetlands farming areas and interacted with FSP beneficiaries to appreciate their efforts in supplementing government’s efforts in mitigating hunger.
The Permanent Secretary said it is encouraging to see the hard work which farmers have put in especially during the drought situation and implored them to continue on the same trajectory in order to promote self-reliance.
In appreciation, beneficiaries among them Mr. and Mrs. Kangwa of Kenda area in Kasama commended government for the agricultural input support which they have described as “life changing”.
They are optimistic about the future with the expected good yields with an appeal to government for continued support.
