The Kasama Municipal Council has awarded contracts to three contractors to work on 18 kilometres of selected township and feeder roads in Lukashya and Kasama Central Constituencies.
Acting Kasama Municipal Council Director of Engineering Services Chitundu Mwila said the projects will be implemented at a combined cost of over K4.2 million using the 2024 CDF allocation.
He disclosed that Chima Express Limited has been given a contract to work on the 4.6-kilometre Tetekela-Mutale Mwamba Road in Julia Chilamoneka Ward of Kasama Central Constituency at a cost of over K1.1 million.
He said Agada Construction Zambia Limited will work on 1.4 kilometres of Prefix – Mumba Road, 3.5 kilometres of Namulundu Road, and 2.2 kilometres of Mess -Zayoni road in Buseko Ward, Kasama Central, at a cost of over K1.5 million.
He named other roads as the 4 kilometres of Chisanga-Nakapampa road and the 2.5 kilometres of Soft Katongo road in Kupumaula Ward of Lukashya Constituency, which have been awarded to World Link Three Limited at a cost of K1.6 million.
He said work on all the projects has commenced and is expected to be completed within four months.

And Mr. Mwila has, however, warned local contractors against doing shoddy work.
He said the local authority will not tolerate shoddy work and encouraged contractors to follow what is stipulated in the bill of quantity.
He said the scope of work in all the contracts includes grading and graveling and placing some culverts in some sections of the roads where there is a need.
Mr Mwila has further called on the community in the areas where work will be done to support the contractors so that they can finish work within the stipulated period.
And Mwenya Mwila, a resident of Mutale village, has commended the Kasama Municipal Council for considering working on the Tetekela-Mutale Mwamba road.
Mr Mwila said the road has been in a deplorable state for a long time.
Mr Mwila however, I called on the contractor to deliver quality work within the stipulated time.
He said the road is of economic benefit, and working on it will boost productivity in the area.
He advised the public to observe safety measures that the contractor will put up to avoid unnecessary accidents.
