Government has commissioned the state-of-the-art digital X-ray machine at Chilubi Island District Hospital.
⁴And Northern Province Minister Leonard, who commissioned the equipment in Chilubi, said the procurement of the digital e-ray machine will help medical staff properly diagnose diseases.
Mr Mbao said the machine, which has advanced technology, will enable health personnel to obtain high-quality images faster and efficient and facilitate more precise diagnosis to improve patient outcomes.
He observed that the absence of a functional x-ray machine had hindered the ability to provide a high level of care to patients.
“As you may be aware, you may have the best doctors, but if you do not have tools such as x-rays it becomes difficult to treat diseases because what you will be doing is guessing,” h e said.
Mr Mbao said this at Chilubi Island District Hospital when he commissioned the x ray in Chilubi.
The minister has since reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuous improvement and innovations in the health sector.
He said government will leverage this new technology to drive further advancements in patient care and build a more resilient district for generations to come.
“Let us use this new digital x-ray machine as a catalyst for further advancements, ensuring that our health care facilities are equipped to meet the evolving needs of the population,” he said.
And Northern Province Health Director Enerst Mutale Mutale commended the government for procuring the latest equipment for the health sector in Chilubi.
Professor Mutale observed that most hospitals in the province lack such equipment, but the ministry is doing its best to change the status quo.
“Northern Province we had a challenge in most hospitals; we do not have such equipment, but we are grateful to the Ministry for considering the region [ Northern Province] and that we are among those that have received a good share of equipment this year,” he said.
He has since called on the community of Chilubi to take care of the equipment, stating that it was procured at a great cost.
And Chilubi District Commissioner Risto Mushembe said the district has, other than receiving the x-ray machine, also received a mortuary unit that has been delivered to the mainland district hospital.
Mr. Mushembe said the coming of the machine will go a long way in improving service delivery for the people.
He said people on the island will be able to access the radiography services in the district.
He said the arrival of the equipment will help reduce the challenges people in the area used to face.
And a community member in Chilubi has thanked government for the bringing the equipment to the district.
Mike Bwalya said the coming of the equipment will reduce the cost associated with travelling to other districts to access the service.³
