FAZ in Northern Province holds sports awards

Northern Province Permanent Secretary Bernard Mpundu has called on sportsmen and women to use sport as a unifying instrument.

Mpundu also challenged athletes to take sports seriously as it has become a serious business which is providing employment to youths.

He said in the just ended season Northern Province managed to produce two boys who were part of the under 15 Zambia National Soccer team which went to Morocco.

Mpundu said the province also produced a young girl who went to officiate at the CAF event for Schools tournament in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

He said these shows the results of hard work and discipline from the athletes.

Mpundu has since challenged athletes to be ambassadors of peace and unity in the province so that sport can be seen to be a symbol of excellence that instills values.

He said the country needs all the athletes to be active to help with the promotion of sports in the nation.

He said the government is aware of challenges which sports club administrators face.

Mpundu said this in a speech read for him by Northern Province Assistant Secretary Jordan Mwenya during the FAZ end of 2023/2024 Soccer Season Awards ceremony in Kasama.

FAZ Northern Province Chairperson Mwansa Kapyanga said it is very important for the association to acknowledge the achievement which athletes scored in the just ended soccer season.

Kapyanga said the province has scored a milestone in the development of sports.

He said the province has been able to send representation to the national League which is very encouraging to sport.
