World Vision plans to provide water to 500 government institutions in Northern Province

Lupososhi–World Vision Zambia has projected to provide water services to about 500 institutions in Northern Province this year.
World Vision Integrated Water Sanitation and Hygiene (IWASH) facilitator for Buyantanshi Area Development in Luwingu Ethel Daka said the project will cover 350 schools and 150 health centers in four districts.
She explained that the project, which will be implemented in Mbala, Lupososhi, Senga Hill and Luwingu Districts, will be done at a cost of over 163,000 United States dollars.
She explained that the project is targeting a population of 8000 people and will also see 1600 households connected to the water supply system.
Ms Daka confirmed the development in an interview with ZANIS today.
She disclosed that the projects are expected to be done in line with the organization’s financial calendar, which starts in October and ends in September of the following year.
Ms Daka has since called on communities where these projects are being done to work together with World Vision Zambia and secure the facility so that people can have access to safe water.
“We want beneficiaries of these projects to have a sense of ownership in order for them to benefit from the sanitation systems when they are operational, “,Ms. Daka said.
She has further reiterated World Vision Zambia’s commitment to supplementing the government’s efforts in ensuring the provision of clean and safe drinking water for the people, especially in rural areas.
