Northern Province Permanent Secretary, Bernard Mpundu, has praised local contractors in Nsama District who have been engaged to do Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects for doing quality work.
Mr Mpundu who inspected the construction of the one by three classroom block at Kabobole Primary School and the rehabilitation of the Nsama Local Court said the contractors have done a commendable job.
He said it is commendable that the local contractors are delivering quality works stating that this will motivate the government to give them more projects.
“Your work which you are doing looks beautiful, finish it up so that we can come and give you recommendations for more works” he said.
The Permanent Secretary also attributed this to the close supervision by staff at the Nsama Town Council.
Mr Mpundu said this when inspected construction work of the one by three classroom block at a cost of K1.1 million and the rehabilitation of the Nsama local court at a cost of K440, 000 using the 2022 CDF allocation.
He said the good work is a sign that the local authority is on the ground to supervise the contractors who are working on the projects.
“Where you are effectively supervising contractors, you are assured of quality, and this is the case of these projects in Nsama” he said
Meanwhile, Peter Mumbi, the contractor working on the one by three classroom block at Kabobole Primary School at a cost over K1.1 million has promised to complete the works on time.
Mr Mumbi said his firm has procured all the material on site and is expected to complete the works by second week of April.
“By Sunday this week, we should be done with the roofing, then we will concentrate on other work since we have all the materials on site. We want to complete the work by the second week of next month (April)” he said.
Nsama Town Council Secretary Raphael Kamanga said the local authority is committed to delivering development to the area.
Mr Kamanga said the council will take advantage of the CDF to undertake developments in line with the expectations of the public.
“We are going to play our role to deliver development, especially that we have a CDF which is a fund, a basket where the community is telling us which direction to go” he said.
