ZANIS — Over USD$200 million is expected to be invested in Northern Province.
This came to light when various local and foreign investors announced their investment pledges in the province during a pre-expo cocktail held at Lake Chila Lodge in Mbala over the weekend.
Top among the pledges was the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) which is expected to invest US100 Million Dollars in development of Mpulungu Harbour.
Other pledges received include Seth James Group of Companies of Nigeria which intends to put up a tourist resort at Kasaba Bay and Power China, the Chinese firm planning to develop Lake Mweru Wantipa.
Others are Choppies chain stores, Mansa Chili, Mikalile Investments, Musika Zambia, Indaba Agricultural Policy Research Institute (IAPRI) and the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC).
And in gracing the cocktail, minister of works and supply Felix Mutati said time has come for the Northern Province to realise its economic potential.
Others who attended the event were Minister of Tourism and Arts Charles Banda, Northern Province Minister Brian Mundubile.
